When we received a call from a representative of the “A Warrior’s Mind” to capture photos, we knew this was going to be a very special day… and it was. Sgt. Patrick Adams of the U.S. Marine Corp was coming home from his 3rd tour of duty that lasted just over 7 months. Several groups came together to make his coming home one to remember and to show him just how much his service to our country is appreciated.
What Sgt Adams didn’t know, was that A Warrior’s Mind had planned a Welcome Home he would never forget. They greeted him at the airport and whisked him, his wife and daughter in a limo headed to his hometown of Crystal Lake, IL. He wasn’t alone… his was escorted by several police cars, over 80 Patriot Guards and vehicles from A Warrior’s Mind group. A quick stop was made at the outskirts of Crystal Lake, where he was greeted by Crystal Lake police and fire vehicles, along with over 50 cars from the Subaru Car Team driving red white and blue cars, who escorted him to his doorstep.
As he made his way home, a crowd of people made up of family, friends, supporters and contributors to his welcome home gathered in front of his residence. Matty D, one of the owners of A Sound Sensation, set up his D.J. equipment and provided music and up-to-the-second updates on Sgt. Adams’ journey home. Star 105.5 local radio provided listeners with updates and encouraged everyone to come out to welcome home a hero.
When the escort rounded the corner to his street, sirens blazed and everyone started cheering and waving their flags. It was such an impressive sight to see! Scrapping on the Spot captured several photos from that afternoon and have provided them to Sgt. Adams in a handcrafted memory book. It was such a great honor to be there.
The gathering had a few special people attending to give short presentations and official welcome home wishes by Illinois State Senator Pamela Althoff, Official Representatives from the Patriot Guard, Marty Smith, 2nd District Commandant of the Marine Corps League Department of Illinois and Joe Cicero from Star 105.5.
The A Warrior’s Mind organization led by Mike Woods, along with the marketing assistance provided by Jack Bechaud, President of The Social Networker, did a phenomenal job of making this day one that Sgt. Adams will always remember. A Warrior’s Mind is an ever-growing organization that helps and supports our veterans. Be sure to check out A Warrior’s Mind social media sites:
