Halloween Expandable Books

Tuesday, November 16th, 2010

These little books are a great way to display your photos using a scrapbook look and feel.  All books are generally theme-based to reflect a season or a special occasion.  The middle panels of the book are used to display some of your favorite photos of the day.  Titles, note cards and other embellishments can also be added to help tell the story.  (An example of a completed explosion book can be found in our October Newsletter.)

Explosion books also make great gifts and can be customized for your occasion.

Scramble

Sunday, November 7th, 2010

If someone were to tell you they went to a “Scramble,” what would you think it was?  A new breakfast cafe?  A rummage sale where you had to madly reach for something before someone else did?  A corn maze where you had to frantically find your way through people and corn stalks?

The Scramble we attended on Friday, Nov. 5th, is a networking luncheon event that the McHenry County Chamber of Commerce holds twice a year.  You find yourself meeting and networking with people at every turn and you scramble from one table to another throughout this progressive lunch.  While at each table, you have only but a few minutes to tell everyone you’re seated with who you are and what benefits your company offers to them.  It’s a fantastic way to meet people and find out more about the businesses within your own community.   Read More→

Cody’s Farm

Monday, October 18th, 2010

Cody’s Farm was one of nine farms that participated in this past weekend’s Marengo Autumn Drive. This event is held every year and offers families a variety of things to do, see and enjoy to celebrate harvest time.

Cody’s had lots of things for everyone to enjoy. The children enjoyed the hay rides, pumpkin launcher, petting zoo and corn maze. The adults savored home-made apple cider donuts and pies, made purchases of the beautiful assortment of fruits and veggies on display and strolled through the many vendor booths — each one displaying something different than the other and most of the merchandise being sold was hand-crafted. Rachel’s Murder Mystery Party

A few of the "suspects"

Rachel’s birthday is October 10, and this year she wanted to have a special gathering with family and friends.   Her wish came true this weekend with a themed birthday party – a  Murder Mystery that took place on the Titanic with a lovely high tea served on vintage floral patterned china.  Eight guests were randomly selected to become “suspect” characters in the mystery and were given real names of Titanic passengers, a profile description and a  script to read out to the group.  Once all eight people told their stories, it was up to the entire group to figure out “who done it.”  The plot of the mystery was carried out throughout the afternoon, only stopping for high tea, birthday cake and short breaks to think about the story lines.  Read More→

Ultrasound Scrapbook Page

Saturday, August 7th, 2010

Ultrasounds are an important step in monitoring the development of your new baby.  When you think of it, they can really be considered baby’s first photo.  It’s exciting to see your new little bundle for the first time…. but once baby arrives, ultrasounds are often-times forgotten about and remain under the fridge magnet for several months.  The paper used for ultrasounds is quite thin and many women we’ve talked to have told us that they are unsure of what to do with them.

Scrapping on the Spot  has designed an ultrasound scrapbook page that helps preserve baby’s first photo.  Simply slide your photo into the picture pocket on the reverse side, then use the Notes & Observations section to journal the experiences during your ultrasound.  For example:  what you saw baby do, or the comments you exchanged with those who were with you.

Price:  $10.00 plus postage and handling — available in various dress colors.
